I have done animal photography in my spare time and it's no walk in the park to get an animal to pose just the way you want him to. The idea behind my pet portraits is that you won't have to! I've spent years perfecting the art of capturing the essence and personality of an animal in a painting, even with bad quality photos to work from. I go out of my way to learn the names of all the pets I paint, as well as anything else their owners want me to know about them.
Commissioned pet portraits has very quickly grown to be one of my most popular services for consumers. And no wonder, our pets are our best friends!
My pet portraits are very important and personal work for me. I've had the honor to perpetuate the memory of pets that has passed away or praise pets that are still with their loving owners. One of my beautiful models passed away while I was working at his painting which made the work even more important and meaningful.

* WHAT IS A DIGITAL PAINTING *
A digital painting is an artwork done digitally on a computer using a drawing tablet and a special pen as well as a program suited for drawing like Adobe Photoshop.
My weapons of choice are a Wacom Bamboo tablet and Adobe Photoshop CS6.

* HOW TO ORDER *
Before you order, look through my work, familiarize yourself with my style and plan out what type of artwork you want, don't forget to think about what type of background you want! You can also 'give the artist free hands', even then I will check with you (with some sketches of my idea) before starting the project.
Note that changing the initial idea for the artwork midway through the project will add to the price.
Collect as many different reference pictures as possible of the pet you want painted. The pictures do not have to be high quality pictures, but keep in mind that the better the picture, the more I can work out of the pictures to capture not only the physical appearance but also the personality and essence of your pet.
Once all this is done, send me an email at : - - with all the details regarding your order (include your pictures as well).
--When you make your order I will ask for your full name and what country you are buying from. This information will only be used in case Finnish/EU authorities needs it for (my income) tax-purposes. --
When your painting is done and I have verified that you are satisfied with it (I will send watermarked photos of the process) you will be sent an invoice. Because of unreliale buyers, I will not provide the final product until the invoice has been paid.
You can choose to get the finished painting sent to you as a digital file to download and print it as you wish at home or at your local printservice. You can now also get your pet portraits sent as A4 or A3 prints (check with me that it is possible to deliver to your country). Printing and postal expenses will be added to the price.
Since it's very hard to capture the personality of an animal you do not know, I like to be in contact with all my customers throughout my working process, sending you updates of how the work is coming along and making sure the painting really looks like the pet you love and know so well. No extra expenses will be added if there is something in the painting that isn't correct or doesn't match the physical appearance of the pet you've sent me reference pictures of, and needs to be fixed.
A digital painting usually takes me between 15-30 hours to finish depending on how much I can work out of the reference pictures, how many changes are made, how many animals I will be painting, how detailed the background is etc. Please allow 2 weeks for the work to get done, there might be a waiting list.
